So... well I was home on my "called in Snow day", I sewed up my version of the Vogue 1027.
Photos first... comments later?
okay
I absolutely love the colors in this fabric, love the waves.
I call this piece,,,, a women in/and her work,, just playing
hair,,, in my eyes, in my month,,, timer goes off,,, AWESOME!
Okay enough about me, back to the dress
Very easy as implied.
When I saw this fabric, I knew,, it had to be used for this dress. I have been waiting for Vogue to go on sale forever,, it happened Thrusday and by Friday night, I was finished.
I made the decision to use the pattern measurements and started off with a 16 (38"bust)...... bad idea
Its a good thing that this one is easy to adjust, I had to take in the sides and adjust the wrap in front which is usually not a problem.... I have a B cup which is supposed to be the standard model for pattern companies but I still had to pull the wrap over 1.5 inches on both sides so it will lay flat,, and now droop on the cleavage,, because this dress is all about the cleavage as you can see.
I will say that the neckline is something you will have to be cautious off, the back of mine does have a little excess,,nothing that looks so visible that I can't wear it in peace, but I know the fault.... I guess I could have cut it and did a center seam but its not that big of a deal. But now that you know, you can make sure you are absolutely happy with it.
I omitted the pockets, don't need any extra padding on these hips.
I used a twin needle for the neckline and the hem, I also used it on the shoulders (sleeves) but it made them look bulky and it didn't hug my arms as I had expected, so I took it out, clipped the seam allowance of the facing at far as I could, and stitched it down with a regular needle at the edge, serge the facing and tacked it down,, DONE
Much better results, of course, you may know of something that will be much better for this situation.
My skirt is very FULL, I cut from a 16 to 22.. I wanted it as full and possible, I love that look
I can't wait to wear it with some silver roman sandals,,, for summers,, can't wait.
and that's it
back to sewing,, Happy Weekend!

Thanks for the shots of you wearing the dress! It is very pretty on you! And wasn't it great to get a snow day yesterday...how much snow ended up by you?

Fabulous dress! I really like the fabric you chose. It's very flattering in every way. I've been toying with buying this pattern, and I should before the Jo-Ann's sale ends.

You really did a great job with this dress! It fits you very well. Thanks for the info about the bust sizing/adjustments. I'm sure I would be doing the exact same adjustment as I am a B cup too and am not very wide across the front. I think the width/lack thereof around the rib cage makes a difference. Is the fabric a woven or a knit? If it's a woven, maybe how I would approach it if I make this is to make a muslin first and adjust the pattern tissue from that. Oh, and it's hilarious how much your dress form looks like mine!! LOL.
