How about a total LUST item?
Something you always wanted but refused to buy retail.
A winter white Ponte knit dress has been a fantasy of mine for some time now.
A few months ago, I was watching Basic Instinct Part one, the scene in which Sharon Stone walks in the room with the white dress and the white coat, it doesn't matter how many times I've seen it and how many years since that movie first came out, that look is still SUPER SEXY to me.
I love the LOOK but stark white or summer white or true white, however you call it, does not look good on me.
Don't ask me why.
So, I have to bend the rules a little.
I made a size 14, widened to 16 at the hip, in a textured ivory double-knit I got from Metro Textiles in NYC.
I did my usual petite adjustment then add an inch back at the lower skirt; however, I could have added another inch because I ended up doing a narrow hem. You may want to proceed with caution if you are taller than 5' 4.
In the Video, I explained how I interpreted part of the instructions.
No. 24 & 25 on the direction sheet doesn't really explain how to attach the back upper left piece to the front upper left piece.
I didn't use a zipper.
I used nude jet set to line the dress. It goes with the principle of wearing nude colored underwear under white pants.
This dress was time consuming because it’s like making two dresses at once but I am very happy with the results.
I was happy to throw this pattern in the trash. This is a one of a kind dress that I hope will last me years and years.
I’m taking a break from my personal sewing to make a couple of shirts for my honey for his birthday.
This should be interesting.

Dress turned out very cute!
Thanks so much for the pattern - digging through my fabric stash right now!

What a fantastic dress - you've done a great job. Just the right amount of sexy to keep it looking chic! I think one the greatest things about sewing is being able to create some of the RTW items that you love but can't justify buying :)
