Most Fridays I'm really happy to just be able to put on a pair of jeans, a shirt or sweater and some flats to wear to work but sometimes I want to wear something other than denim but its a challenge to find suitable non-denim separates, that are still appropriate for work without looking to professional, to dressy or to laid back.
- Added 1.5 inches of length to the hem of skirt
- Made size 18, no other alterations
- Used a golden tan 100% linen from Fabric Mart Fabrics
- Faux leather cognac colored trim was bought at Joanns Fabric
- Free hanging lining made from 100% cotton batiste
The shirt I'm wearing is from Macy's, I love that the collar, pocket and epaulettes are cotton poplin but the top itself is cotton jersey, its very comfortable.
The piping detail has been emerging more and more on the runway, two skirts that were my inspiration.
Celine SS 2010
Yves Saint Laurent SS 2011
and also The look of the day from QVC a couple weeks ago.
Animal Print bangles I got from ebay last Fall
My mom gave me this scarf probably 5 years ago, I love it, I wear it everyway possible, in my hair, on my bag, as a belt, everything you can think off.
Fossil watch, I got this as a gift about 3 years ago, I love it because its like wearing a bead bracelet, you have to really be "noisy" to notice its a watch :)
After making so many skirts over the years, a skirt is just another skirt to me. I am trying to be more selective of the designs I choose so I can really add something worthwhile to my closet. This skirt is unique because of the leather trim, it gives it a "designer look" that I won't see going and coming.
If you decide to make it, let me know how it works out for you, it was a quick sewing project.
Well, this is the last garment of my Spring Summer 2011 Set 1, so next post will be the recap.

Love love LOVE this look on you! You are making some superb garments!! I'm going to plan my fall stuff! You've inspired me!

I love this! I have been lusting over the YSL white and black skirt/suit and this is the perfect pattern. I'm not sure, but I think that the opening is called an inverted box pleat. I love that it is not a slit, so it makes the skirt work appropriate (casual). Simplicity goes on sale next weekend and I am going to pick this one up.

This makes a fantastic outfit, I can see that skirt working with a lot of tops even though it is more interesting than your average basic skirt.

After seeing that skirt, its making me want to put all my other projects to the side and work it up since I have the pattern. Matter of fact it would fall in line with the Bottoms-up challenge that I am participating in. It looks great on you.
