Last weekend, I didn't sew an inch.
I got my copy of the new vogue 1258 pattern and I went into FULL PREP MODE.
I've been wanting to document my process for a while, now I can just give out a link when I get asked the question, how do you get so much done in a short period of time for your sewing.
I think some people may think that the garments are not well made or I'm cutting corners left and right.
Nope, I just don't do it all at once, I do so much "prep" that when I'm actually sewing, everything that can be done before hand, is complete. What you see every week, is the result of planning and prep work, just like what happens behind the scenes of your favorite sitcom.
The only thing I didn't show in the video, is INTERFACED FABRIC PIECES, that was another tip someone bless me with that I used also, interface your pieces after you cut it out and put it in the bag so you don't have to take a break of your sewing to get up and do that step.
Enjoy!

WONDERFUL TIPS!!!!!!

I really like the idea of cutting out the pattern and putting it in a baggy as soon as you get home. I would love to see or if you have a reference to an earlier post how you tackle being multi-size. I go all the way from a 12 on top to a 18 at the hips and would love any tips.

We do the same thing, I just don't use ziplock bags. I normally put the pattern back in the pattern envelope along with the notions once the pattern is cute out.
I make my list on my phone and keep it there. I ALWAYS have my phone lol.
Great video!

Great video...like talking with a girlfriend right next to you, love it!! I'm like Adrienne, I put everything on my phone. I have a list titled "Sewing", and if there's a pattern I need or any type of sewing notions, I always grab my phone and put it in this list. So if I find myself at a fabric store by chance, all I have to do is pull out my phone and everything's always right there...my phone is my assistant and always with me!! Thanks for sharing your process!! I'm anxiously waiting on your version of V1258!!!

Excellent post. I do the same thing but without the baggie. I usually separate the pieces I'm going to use from the ones I'm not by folding all the pattern pieces together that I'm going to use and then I place the pattern instruction in between those I will be using from the ones I'm not. So it's like a divider.

I really enjoyed this video! You have a wonderful voice, and your tips are great. I like the zip loc baggie idea, what a great way to reduce the clutter related to sewing!

I like your tips. I do use the zip locs but never thought of marking and things I could get done at work on my lunch hour. So I'm going to incorporate that into my day and get more stuff done. I have traced Burda's at work though. I fold up my tracing paper in a 9 X 12 manilla envelope along with the sheet I'm tracing. I copy the page with the directions and the photo of the garment. It all fits into the envelope on the front of the envelope I label Burda Year-Month-Pattern No. because there is where I end up storing the pattern for later use.
