I've been thinking of trying a quilt for a long time.
I just don't know where to start.
A couple weeks ago I was putting some sewing books on pre-order on Amazon and I saw this book
and that urge to try this quilting thing out came back so I figure, I need to try it, just to get it out of my system.
So, this is the promise of the Author:
- All you need is 3 different fabrics to make each quilt so that choosing the fabrics will not be intimidating -> not a problem, I can choose fabrics all day
- The seams in these quilts do not need to Line up perfectly, so its great for beginners -> this I love
- The blocks are large enough that you will not need to make a lot of them in order to put your quilt together -> Instant gratification is my friend :)
This is the one I am going to attempt.
Each finished Block will measure 10 x10 inches so they are big, so we will see, I will come back and give updates, I'm waiting for my fabrics right now, OMG, quilting fabric is expensive. I had no idea they cost that much.
On the sewing front, I finally got my Butterick patterns, this is what I got based on my picks I posted early.
I took me that long to get my patterns because I wanted to make sure I was only getting what I would actually make, this time around.
And, I also picked up one pattern from my new look picks:
I still have to pick up the skirt pattern I mentioned I liked also, but I have fabric coming for this dress and I want to sew it up as soon as I get my fabric in the mail this week.
Do you think I should post my Vogue picks?
I'll do it if you guys would like to check to get it out.

that will be a cute quilt. My granny makes them but she makes hers out of old clothing or fabric that she cuts into blocks.

Quilting is very addictive and wonderful. I work on one last night and most of the day today.

I quilt. I don't love it. Yet I feel drawn to doing it. How are you planning to actually quilt your project? A regular machine won't do anything bigger than a baby quilt.....

Check out Denyse Schmidt's quilt book - it is my favorite! The quilt designs are "fashion forward", but I think Denyse is also inpsired by the quilters of Gee's Bend. Google them and prepare to be *really* inpsired!

I'm not a quilting person...I love them, just don't want to do it. I really like your Butterick selections and would love to see your Vogue pics too! You always make wonderful selections, you have a great eye for fashion!!
