Today, I am tired of wearing prints.

I feel like my whole closet is filled with knit dresses.

Yes, I'm having a moment, I have nothing to wear, I want a whole new closet.

So, I'm wearing all black today. I am mourning my lack luster closet.

Time for a new accessory piece, I need a pick me up

I just love the symbolism of the 4 leaf clover.Its just so positive.
Something great may happen to your today.
I love novelty jewelry but some can come off as so tacky.
I like when its tastefully done.

6 looks 4 Casual Friday: Last summer days

Summer is almost over, can you stand it.
I saw these looks on the NY&Co website yesterday and I felt a little bittersweet.
On one hand, we still have a few more days of "light clothing", short sleeve
tops and open toe shoes but on the other hand, I get to wear a sweater and jeans
everywhere and not feel bad about it, especially on Casual Fridays.

What are your go to pieces for casual friday in the fall?

Or, if you don't work, what are your go to pieces for running errands in the fall?

My essentials:
Dark Denim boot cut jeans
Black skinny jeans
Cowl Neck light weight sweater (3/4 sleeve)
V neck colored tanks with Cardigans (assorted colors)
Camp shirt, I need another one.
Camel colored ponte knit blazer
Knee high boots, I like to wear my jeans in and out.

 

Stylish Work

Dress for your shape not for your weight.

I was driving in to work this morning listening to a stylist on the radio talking about fall fashion and she made that statement.

Now, isn't that the truth.

I've always maintained that I don't care what is "on trend" if I try it on and it doesn't compliment my body shape, I'm not wearing it.

Staying true to silhouettes that work for you can be a little boring at times, but there in itself lies a positive challenge. How can I make this BETTER?

Color is important, actually you can make the same dress twice but the one in the "season's hot color" can make a huge difference and trust me, people notice color, especially if it works great with your skintone and hair.

Anyway, I won't get to heavy into that, just wanted to share some flattering options for my curvy girl for the work closet, these are from banana republic.

Fall for Kate

So.. Fall for Kate, Ann Taylor.
Nice.
It got me interested.
This morning I was thinking, you know, I haven't made anything in peplum
for spring or summer and that was one of the main trends I wanted to make
this year and I keep putting it off.
I love the idea of a peplum suit in a ponte knit.
Its two separates that will work wonders for my fall/winter work closet.
The chiffon black bow on the back seems so Chanel, don't you think?
The front is simple but the back has this whimical feminine effect, I love
pieces like that.
And, I'm happy to see that silk camp shirts are still trending this fall.
You know I love shirts, nothing says pull together than a bottom up
even when you're wearing jeans.

Just call me Cute

One of many little bundles on my table.

If I don't sew today I will be cutting out patterns, which is what I do when changing the thread in my sewing machine seems like such a huge task. I need a machine that I can just put the thread on the spool holder and it just does the rest. Ugh, it don't think its happening today, I'm already exhausted just thinking about it.

On a brighter side, more accessories, because, well, why not.

These are from the lastest Kate Spade collection and I luv them all.

I recently ordered a bunch of "love quote" bangles, I like the idea of pairing them up with just a solid color sheath dress for work, or a sweater and jeans in the fall, just simple, not trying to hard, you know?

Plus they make great options when you are stacking with other bracelets, I'll stop at that, you know the deal.

Now, bow bracelets, I don't have, on my list right now. How stinkin cute is that?

In my mind, I'm already having a preppy moment with my pearls and my bow bracelet, yes, it happens that fast, I need it now!

Bow earrings, off the shoulder sweater, jeggings and flats, yes ma'am, fall's quick running errands outfit.

Diamond bow and pearl earrings, as I said, when I'm wearing this, just call me "cute" I will answer :)

Horns & Gemstones

Horn pendants, who would have ever thought, I guess when I saw Gwyneth wearing it early this year, I should have paid more attention.

I like the shape of the horn, I would probably want it in a metal or acrylic. I like that it can look sophisticated and edgy depending on what kind you get and how you wear it - On my list.

I have a love/hate relationship with Big Gem bracelets, some look kinda cheap, some look way to "in your face" and some look to late '80s era.

But isn't everything like that these days?

This one is a maybe....

Accessorize like an Italian SuperStar

Well, at least according to Lucky September.

They did a great editorial with some of the most fashionable female italian celebs/socialites and of course the accessories were worth taking note of.

One BOLD GOLD statement piece on the hands.

I wear cowl neck/veck neck sweaters and wool blend pants to work in the winter, ALOT, almost everyday day, so having one piece of jewelry that stays put on my lower arm is all the "arm candy" I need.

Mental note taken, I will be keeping my eyes out for something similar to add to my collection.

Transition Lip

This week I'm wearing Covergirl Blast Flipstick in 850 Smooch.

I've never tried the flipstick-lipstick before but it was recommended that I
try it so I said, next time it goes on sale, I'm going for it.

Not bad!

For those of you that know a little bit more about lipstick that just choosing a fun
color to add it to your collection, I would describe it as:

The pink side is a FROST (shimmery appearance)
The Terracotta side is a lustre (very light, pigmented lipbalm consistency)

Its blendable so you get three looks out of it.

LUV THAT!

So, its great for an everyday, up and out, to the office, running errands look.

The only down side is that its not long lasting/long wearing.

But, its so light on the lips its worth the extra application after lunch, IMO.

I think its a great transition color when blended and then use the terracotta color more in the Fall.

If it flatters....

This morning I was on net-a-porter.com and I couldn't help but notice two garments.
To the left of the photo: 3.1 Phillip Lam
To the right of the photo: Moschino Cheap and chic
Both Full (circle) skirts
Remember, I said, don't sleep on M6585, if full skirts flatter your body type.
I think its a great length for late summer/fall.

Full knee length skirts is not for everyone, you have better chances with a maxi
version if you are hippy like me.
If you can make this work, wow, Enjoy!
Because if I didn't have to jump through all sorts of optical illusion body flattering
hoops to make this work, I will be fully on-board!
