Summer, what Summer?
I need these months to go by fast so I can get back to my regularly schedule sewing.
I wrote earlier this year that I wanted to slow down the sewing, well be careful what you wish for because now I don't have a choice. If God has a sense of humor he is "falling out" right now. I feel like I brought this sewing famine on myself.
So lately I've been trying to make do with what I can do, catch up on my magazines and pull some fabrics for future projects.
But before I go into that, a quick stop at Joanns this afternoon for the .99 cents Mccalls sale.
I should have took a photo of the pattern drawers.
All that was missing was western movie music and ragweed blowing around the empty drawers.
New patterns, what new patterns?
Only the separaters were left.
I should have known with a .99 cent sale to go the first day of the sale but I only wanted one pattern, M6991 and I totally forgot about it until today.
Joanns is making it very easy to stick to my Pattern Diet this year.
I need that pattern though....
In the last secret life of a sewer post I was talking about the Julie's picks club from Fabric Mart and how I decided to jump in to see what was up with it.
Well, I got a few pieces but I will show you the ones from the August Mailer.
I got this Watercolor ITY for another Simplicity 1539 and if you are checking me out on instagram, you already have seen this one.
I went out looking for tops for work and I didn't see anything I liked because you know I've been sewing a while and those $49.99 polyester blend, two pattern piece tops are just not that appealing when you can get silk crepe for that price to make the same top.
When I saw this print, it looked like a great opportunity to pair up with my Emerald Jacket (seen here), which I love but hardly wear because it has such a statement color.
Green was everywhere on the fall 2014 runway, seen here in Stella McCartney, Dolce & Gabbana and Altuzarra.
Which made me think about incorporating something in that shade of green into my closet. Sometimes I get stuck on one color, like my favorite, black and need some inspiration to think outside the box.
I'm revisiting the Mccalls Trench Dress I made a few years ago, I always wanted a longer version because that pattern was just too short.
Mccalls discontinued that pattern, such a great loss.
I got this Nanette Lepore Dotted Double Sided Jacketing (100% cotton).
Which truly feels like "the 1st and the 15th", its more than what I expected.
The Altuzarra colorblocking inspiration is going to be implemented on this one and its a project I can't wait to start but I know I will need a lot of time to do it right so I'm not rushing to start it.
Continuing with revisiting old but loved patterns, I got this poly/spandex from my Grandma, my mom said as soon as she saw this print she thought about me.
Well, obviously "Toy = Sophisticated Prints", I'm flattered.
But my mom has superb taste and I truly love the colors, perfect, PERFECT for Fall.
I wore my Butterick 5915 a few days ago and my mom suggested I should use the pattern for this fabric because it fits great and it will showcase the print very well.
I love that dress, so its a go!
I'm really excited for the fall dressing and the weather has been cool in the morning which is making me more anxious for it.
Not the winter though, that I can wait on.....
